Jake & Erika | Harrisburg, PA Engagement Session at State Capitol Building
As a wedding photographer based in PA, capturing an engagement session at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg is always special, but some sessions feel even closer to the heart. This was exactly the case with Jake and Erika’s stunning shoot.
Jake has been my best friend since we were sophomores in high school, over seven years now! From the times he was deployed and we exchanged handwritten letters, to celebrating this exciting new chapter in his life, our friendship has been a journey of its own.
It brings me immense joy to see him so happy with Erika, who is truly wonderful, and I can’t wait to capture their wedding at the same venue this November!
The Golden Hour Magic
The engagement session started at the back of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, near the beautiful fountain. The timing couldn't have been more perfect! The golden hour sun filtered through the mist, creating a breathtaking backdrop. Light shimmered across the water, casting a spotlight on the building's stunning architecture. Meanwhile, the fountain's soft hues and gleaming spray added a dreamy aesthetic to our photos, making each one appear truly magical.
Architectural Elegance and Playful Moments
The Capitol is known for its striking green dome and expansive grounds, which we made the most of during our shoot. After some beautiful shots at the back, Jake and Erika changed outfits, and we moved to the front of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg. Here, with the Harrisburg cityscape around us, we captured a unique vibe that was both urban and intimate.
One of my favorite moments happened spontaneously near a light post, where Erika playfully tried to push Jake up as he pretended to climb. These light-hearted moments truly showcased their personalities and love for each other.
The Cinderella Moment
As the engagement session came to a close during the blue hour at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, we captured what I fondly call their "Cinderella moment." In the last traces of daylight, Jake knelt to help Erika slip her shoe back on after a playful run – a perfect, fairy-tale end to a wonderful day.
