What to Wear for Your Boudoir Session | Boudoir Outfit Ideas

Are you trying to decide on what to wear for your boudoir session? It’s incredibly exciting to prepare for your photo shoot, but sometimes the abundance of outfit choices might seem a little daunting. No worries! I’m here to help you find the perfect outfits that not only look fantastic but also make you feel absolutely amazing in your boudoir session.

Pick the Right Colors

Colors really set the mood in your photos. I love shooting with warm, moody vibes, so I usually suggest going for neutral colors. They just make everything look timeless.

Here are some colors I think work best:

  • Black: It’s a classic and makes everything look sleek and powerful. Whether it’s a lacy bodysuit or a satin robe, black is sure to make you feel confident and in control.

  • White: Always elegant and perfect if you want something pure and simple. White is fantastic for brides-to-be or anyone looking for a fresh, clean look.

  • Deep red: It’s super sexy and really stands out. Perfect for adding a pop of color and passion to your photos.

  • Earth tones: Think dark greens, browns, and tans – they go great with everything and bring a natural, grounded feel to your images.

I recommend staying away from any super bright and vibrant colors, including neon colors. They can create unflattering reflections on your skin, which we don’t want.

If you’re not sure about a color, just shoot me a picture, and I’ll give you my thoughts!

Choose Comfortable Styles

Finding the right style is just as important as the color. It’s all about what makes you feel good. If there are parts of your body you’re not too keen on showing, here are some comfy yet stylish ideas:

  • One-piece bodysuits: These smooth out your shape and make you look fab. They're perfect for any body type and can be both elegant and seductive.

  • High-waisted panties: Great for covering up the tummy area but still looking trendy. Pair these with a matching bra or a loose tank top for a chic look.

I usually say no to babydolls or nightgown types. They’re cute but tend to hide your shape. Don’t forget to bring a few different outfits to the shoot – we’ll try them out and see what works best!

You Don’t Have to Stick to Lingerie

Remember, boudoir isn’t just about lingerie. Some of my favorite shoots have been with non-lingerie outfits.

Here’s what you could try:

  • Slouchy sweater and simple undies: Really comfy and looks effortlessly sexy. Perfect for those softer, more intimate shots.

  • Cardigan with a bralette and undies: It’s snug and personal. Throw on a chunky knit for texture and warmth.

  • Oversized button-down: Maybe one from your partner, matched with undies. It gives a personal and playful vibe.

  • Cute loungewear: Laid back but still hot. Think silky pajamas or soft cotton sets that hint at comfort but scream style.

  • Jeans and a bralette: A casual yet cool look. Great for a more edgy, fashion-forward feel.

  • Leather jacket or blazer over a bralette: Adds a bit of an edge. Perfect for those who want a bolder, more dramatic look.

Be creative and bring your own style to the shoot!

Tips Before the Shoot

  • Bring a few options: We can pick the best ones together. Having choices helps us mix and match and find the perfect ensemble for your shoot.

  • Try everything on beforehand: Make sure they fit right to avoid any last-minute worries. This also helps you feel more prepared and relaxed on the day of the shoot.

  • Pack plain basics: Like black, nude, or white undies—they mix well with other outfits. These basics can act as a foundation for any look.

  • Cut off all tags: We don’t want them peeking out in your photos. This small step can make a big difference in how polished your final photos look.
